Pawprint Terms of Service

Last updated 6 September 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating a Pawprint account, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

2. What Pawprint is

Pawprint lets you create a digital profile for your pet with a scannable QR code. Anyone who scans it can log a private "encounter" — a record, visible only to them, that they met your pet. Pets you own or meet can also earn an AI-generated collectible card. Pawprint is provided as-is, and we may add, change, or remove features over time.

Pawprint is currently free to use. We may in future introduce optional paid features, including a recurring subscription and one-off in-app purchases — see section 9 for how these work.

3. Who can use Pawprint

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

4. Your account

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We may remove content or restrict an account that violates this section.

Reporting a problem. If you see a pet profile, display name, or other content that concerns you, or that you believe is illegal or breaches this section, please tell us at support@thepawprint.app with as much detail as you can (e.g. the pet's name or a link to its QR code). We will review reports and may remove content, restrict an account, or take other appropriate action.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, pet information, and any other content you upload to Pawprint. By uploading it, you give us the license we need to store it, display it back to you and to anyone you share a pet's QR code with, and — for a pet's primary photo — to send it to our AI card-generation provider to create that pet's collectible card (see the Privacy Policy, §4 and §6). You confirm you have the right to upload the photos and information you provide, and that doing so doesn't infringe anyone else's rights.

7. AI-generated cards

Collectible card artwork is generated by a third-party AI model based on a pet's photo. It's a stylised, AI-generated interpretation — not a guaranteed accurate likeness, and not a professional portrait. We don't guarantee the artistic quality, accuracy, or availability of card generation, and a pet's card is minted once and isn't automatically regenerated if you're unhappy with the result.

8. Encounters and privacy

Encounters you log are private to you: no pet owner and no other user can see who scanned their pet's code or what you logged. Please respect that this is a good-faith, honesty-based system — don't log false encounters, and don't use the notes field to record anything you wouldn't want stored.

9. Paid features, subscriptions and in-app purchases

Pawprint is currently free to use. We may in future offer optional paid features — for example, a recurring subscription (such as a monthly plan unlocking additional pet slots or other premium features) and/or one-off in-app purchases (such as unlockable card designs, cosmetic items, or other add-ons). This section applies to any such paid feature from the point we introduce it, and the price and what it unlocks will always be shown to you before you pay for anything.

How billing works. All payments for anything you buy in Pawprint are processed by the app store you downloaded Pawprint from (the Apple App Store or Google Play), not by us directly. We never see, collect, or store your card or payment details. Your payment contract is with that app store operator, under their own terms and payment systems; these Terms govern your use of the feature you've bought, not the payment transaction itself.

Subscriptions. A subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, unless you cancel it before the renewal date. You cancel a subscription through your Apple ID or Google Play account settings — we have no ability to cancel a subscription, or issue a refund for one, on your behalf. If we offer a free trial, it will convert automatically into a paid subscription at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it ends. If we increase the price of a subscription you already hold, we'll give you reasonable advance notice before the new price applies, and you can cancel before then if you don't want to continue at the new price.

In-app purchases. A one-off purchase unlocks the specific virtual item, cosmetic option, or feature it describes, for your account only. Virtual items and unlockable content have no real-world monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, sold, transferred between accounts, or redeemed anywhere outside Pawprint, and are forfeited without refund if your account is suspended, terminated, or deleted.

Refunds. Because payments are handled by the app store rather than by us, refunds are governed by that store's own refund policy, and a refund request should be made directly to Apple or Google. This doesn't affect any right you have under UK consumer law that can't lawfully be excluded — for example, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if paid digital content is faulty, not fit for purpose, or not as described. Digital content and digital services are also subject to a 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013; by choosing to receive a paid digital feature immediately (rather than waiting 14 days), you acknowledge that you may lose that cancellation right once delivery or performance has begun, to the extent the law allows this.

Taxes. The price shown to you by the app store may or may not include VAT or other applicable sales tax, depending on your country and that store's own pricing and tax rules.

10. Intellectual property

The Pawprint app, its branding, and its design (excluding the content you and other users upload) belong to Pawprint App Ltd. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the app itself.

11. Third-party services

Pawprint relies on third-party services (currently Supabase for backend infrastructure, Google's Gemini API for card generation, and Resend for sign-in emails) to operate. We aren't responsible for outages or issues caused by these providers, though we'll do our best to work around them.

12. Disclaimers

Pawprint is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular feature (including AI card generation or a paid feature under section 9) will always be available. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited under UK law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pawprint App Ltd will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of Pawprint, including loss of data, loss of access to a pet's profile, or reliance on an AI-generated card. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Pawprint is limited to the total amount attributable to your account that we have received, directly or via the app store, in the 12 months before the claim arose.

14. Termination

You can stop using Pawprint and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms, or if we discontinue the app or a feature — we'll give reasonable notice where practical if we discontinue the service entirely. Section 9 explains what happens to a subscription or purchase if this happens.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. If we make a material change, we'll make that clear in the app, and continued use after that point means you accept the updated terms.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
